Allan Houston scored 28 points as the New York Knicks won consecutive games under coach Don Chaney for just the second time, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-95, Saturday night.

Kurt Thomas added 22 points, Mark Jackson had a season-high 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists and Latrell Sprewell scored 18 for the Knicks, who will try for their third straight win today in Cleveland.

“It seems like it has been a long time since we had a winning streak,” Houston said.

It’s not a feeling the Knicks are used to. More familiar has been blowing leads, like they did against Philadelphia on Tuesday, but Houston says the team hasn’t folded.

Mavericks 117, Warriors 100

Oakland, Calif. Â Raef LaFrentz had six three-pointers among his 30 points, and Dirk Nowitzki scored 14 of his 30 points early in the third quarter as Dallas beat Golden State. LaFrentz, in his most impressive game since joining the Mavericks in a trade on Feb. 21, went 12-for-19 from the field before sitting out the fourth quarter.

Spurs 111, Celtics 104

San Antonio  Danny Ferry scored a season-high 18 points, 10 in the final three minutes, to lead San Antonio over Boston. Tim Duncan led all scorers with 37 points for the Spurs, who extended their winning streak to nine games and snapped the Celtics’ seven-game win streak.

Trail Blazers 95, Wizards 80

Portland, Ore. Â Shawn Kemp, making his first start of the season, had season-highs of 21 points and 14 rebounds as Portland defeated Washington. Rasheed Wallace added 25 points, Bonzi Wells 22 and Scottie Pippen tied his career-high with 15 assists for the Blazers.

Bulls 114, Rockets 112, 2OT

Houston  Jalen Rose capped a career-high 44-point performance by hitting a 15-foot jump shot as the buzzer sounded, giving Chicago a double-overtime victory over Houston and snapping the Bulls’ eight-game losing streak. Rose hit a jumper at the buzzer in the first overtime, then scored six of the Bulls’ eight points in the second overtime.

SuperSonics 95, Clippers 87

Los Angeles  Gary Payton scored 23 points and reserve center Predrag Drobnjak had six of his career-high 18 points during a key fourth-quarter run as Seattle beat Los Angeles. Jeff McInnis scored 30 points and Eric Piatkowski added 20 for the Clippers, who slipped three games behind seventh-place Seattle and two games behind Utah for the eighth Western Conference playoff berth.

Pistons 102, Bucks 94

Milwaukee  Jerry Stackhouse had 25 points and seven assists as Detroit took over first place in the Central Division with a victory over Milwaukee. Chucky Atkins added 19 points and Ben Wallace had 16 rebounds for Detroit, which rallied after the Bucks led 74-68 late in the third. It was Detroit’s first victory over the Bucks this season following two losses. The teams meet again at Detroit on the final night of the season.

Heat 101, Nuggets 76

Miami  Alonzo Mourning scored 24 points to lead Miami to a rout of Denver. The Heat remained 11¼2 games behind Charlotte for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Nuggets lost their fourth straight game and have dropped eight straight on the road. Miami defeated Denver for the 13th straight time and hasn’t lost in the series since Dec. 15, 1995.

Hornets 87, Suns 76

Charlotte, N.C. Â Jamal Mashburn scored 23 points and Elden Campbell added 17 as Charlotte pulled away in the final five minutes. Campbell scored six points in the final 4:34 as the Hornets negated a 31-point effort from Suns forward Shawn Marion.
