Ernest Nelson Freeman

He was born July 13, 1924, in Eudora, the son of Nelson and Elsie Lenora (Mathia) Freeman.

Mr. Freeman was an electrician at Hercules (Sunflower Ammunition Plant) for 25 years. He retired in 1986.

He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lawrence, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 226.

He married Irene Marie Kaufman on March 14, 1947, in Lawrence. She survives of Lawrence.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kathy Jorgensen, Lawrence; a brother, Bernard, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to World War II Veterans Memorial, sent in care of the mortuary.
