Elderly can track nutrition on Web

With a view toward improving the nutritional health of the elderly, a coalition of more than 25 organizations led by The American Academy of Family Physicians, The American Dietetic Assn. and The National Council on Aging has created the Nutrition Screening Initiative, maintaining a Web site at www.aafp.org/nsi.

The information and resources on the NSI site are split into five major categories, each self-explanatory through its title. The Nutrition Checklist, for example, offers a list of warning signs to be on the lookout for when diagnosing poor nutrition in the elderly (such as missing teeth or unintended weight loss or gain).

The site also offers an array of tips and suggestions for taking the needs of your body into your own hands.
