Ammunition plant board seeks to fill vacancy
Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant’s Restoration Advisory Board is seeking a volunteer to fill one vacancy.
The board keeps community members informed about environmental studies and cleanup at the DeSoto plant and gives them the chance to provide input in the environmental restoration process.
The board is composed of Army, Environmental Protection Agency and Kansas Department of Health and Environment representatives as well as community members. Members are required to attend meetings that sometimes last more than two hours the first Wednesday of every other month.
Members also are expected to serve as liaisons between the board and their community and be willing to meet with community members or groups.
Applications are due by April 26 and are available at the DeSoto Public Library or may be requested by calling Tony Spaar at (913) 583-3000, Ext. 6789.
