Butcher services

Graveside services for Dorothy Butcher, 88, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kan.

Mrs. Butcher died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. She had been a Lawrence resident since 1993.

She was born July 20, 1913, in Denison, Tex., the daughter of George and Kate (Brown) Stallard.

A homemaker, Mrs. Butcher was a member of First United Methodist Church, Independence, and a former member of First United Methodist Church, Baldwin.

She married John Butcher on Oct. 1, 1938, in Parsons. He died March 24, 1987.

Survivors include a daughter, Natalie Redding, Lawrence; a son, Steve Butcher, Conway, Ark.; a brother, Phil Stallard, Topeka; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A son, George David Butcher, died Oct. 8, 1982.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, Independence, sent in care of the mortuary.
