Nine Celtics score in double digits in 130-110 win

? Not since Larry Bird was around have the Boston Celtics had a season like this.

Nine Celtics scored in double figures for the first time since Bird’s final season a decade ago, and Boston had its highest point total in three years Wednesday night to beat Orlando, 130-110.

“I don’t see why we can’t put up 100 points a game, with the talent we’ve got on this ballclub,” said Paul Pierce, who had 22 points. “Everybody contributed.”

Antoine Walker had 16 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists as the Celtics topped their best this year by 20 points, scoring their most points since a triple-overtime game in 1999 and more than they’ve had in any regulation game in six years. At 33-27, they have their best record through 60 games since 1991-92, Bird’s farewell.

Boston also took a 21/2-game lead over Orlando in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Malone put the Lakers away by nailing a rare 3-pointer with 21/2 minutes left. O’Neal scored 28 points and had 12 rebounds and Bryant scored 26. But Bryant was held to three in the second half, and the Lakers, whose 12.4 turnover average is the league’s second-lowest, committed 24  14 in the first half.

Heat 92, Bulls 87

Chicago  Rod Strickland scored a season-high 23 points, Alonzo Mourning had 18 and Eddie Jones added 14 points as all five Heat starters finished in double figures. Suns 89, Nets 87

Phoenix  Jason Kidd’s shooting was as cold as the reception he got from a large share of the Phoenix crowd as the Suns rallied to hand New Jersey its fourth consecutive road loss. Kidd, in his first trip to Phoenix since he was traded to New Jersey, had 10 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists but shot just 4-for-18 from the field. Stephon Marbury, the player the Suns got in the trade, scored 20.

Trail Blazers 85, Timberwolves 78

Portland, Ore. Â Scottie Pippen scored eight points in a span of 37 seconds late in the game as Portland extended its winning streak to 11. Portland shot just 37 percent, its lowest figure of any game during the streak, but Pippen compensated by making a 22-foot jumper, a 3-pointer and two free throws to put the Blazers ahead 79-73 with 1:29 left.
