Big 12 women’s Tournament: Wildcats reach semifinals

? Kendra Wecker had 22 points, and 13th-ranked Kansas State took advantage of poor shooting in the first half by No. 12 Texas for a 79-63 victory Wednesday in the second round of the Big 12 Conference tournament.

The Wildcats, who also received 17 points from Laurie Koehn, 11 each from Kristin Rethman and Nicole Ohlde and 10 from Megan Mahoney, advanced to the semifinals. They will play fourth-ranked Oklahoma today.

Kansas State (24-6) was in front by as many as 21 points and held a 40-21 halftime lead because Texas (20-9) made just eight of 33 shots in the first 20 minutes. The Longhorns, led by Kala Bowers with 14 points and Tai Dillard with 12, were just 1-of-8 from three-point range in the first half.

No. 4 Oklahoma 87, Oklahoma State 56

Big 12 player of the year Stacey Dales scored 23 points, and Oklahoma (25-3) rolled to a 28-point halftime lead. In the second half, Dionnah Jackson scored 11 straight points to stretch the lead to 45-10. Jackson finished with 23 points.

No. 7 Baylor 75, No. 17 Texas Tech 60

Sheila Lambert scored a season-high 30 points for Baylor (25-4). She finished two points short of the tournament record set by Nebraska’s Nicole Kubik against Kansas in 2000.

No. 11 Iowa State 58, No. 10 Colorado 56

Angie Welle rebounded Lindsey Wilson’s miss and scored with three seconds left to lift Iowa State past Colorado. Iowa State (23-7) will face Baylor today in the semifinals.
