The Kansas University police said they were investigating a charge by the Iranian Students Assn. that an Iranian student had been assaulted by another student, also an Iranian, in a Feb. 25 “political” incident near Potter Lake.

IN 1962

Lawrence’s accelerated growth in the next 10 to 15 years could cause more problems than benefits if greedy, selfish and complacent citizens should seize control, warned E.R. Zook, Lawrence Chamber of Commerce manager. Zook made the remarks in a talk to the Lawrence Rotary Club. He had been a leader in productive growth through the chamber.

IN 1902

On March 6, 1902, the Lawrence World said, “Lawrence ought to take steps to have a more beautiful city. Most of us are here for a long time, and it is fitting that the town should be made as presentable as possible. We do not take much stock in the idea that the town ought to be made beautiful to the eye of a stranger. What is wanted is to make Lawrence a good place in which to live.”
