Leonard J. Schamber

? He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Sterling, Colo., the son of Peter R. II and Laura (Hoff) Schamber.

Mr. Schamber was a self-employed salesman. He was a member of S.S. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, and Knights of Columbus.

He married Lorena Schamber on July 26, 1938, in Damar. She died in January 1986. He then married Violet Kechley on Dec. 27, 1986, in Phillipsburg. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Len, Damar, and Linus, Hays; five daughters, Florena Schneweis, Wichita, Lovella Kelley, Hutchinson, Lou Irwin, Manhattan, Lorna Weixelman, Wichita, and Lovetta Cross, Lawrence; two stepdaughters, LeElda Daubert, Kennewick, Wash., and Marilyn Underkofhler, Wichita; two brothers, Robert, Hays, and Clarence, Phillipsburg; two half-sisters, Laura Bauck, Garden City, and Toni Campbell, Montana; 36 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. A prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at S.S. Philip and James Catholic Church.
