Abilene ? Topeka Hayden upended No. 2-ranked Santa Fe Trail, 42-39, in a Class 4A sub-state girls basketball final on Sunday at Abilene High.

Hayden advanced to 4A state in Salina with an 18-5 record.

The game was tied at 22 at halftime, but Hayden outscored Santa Fe Trail 10-6 in the third quarter.

It was the second year in a row that Hayden ended the Chargers’ season at sub-state.

Janelle Arnold led SFT with 14 points.

The Chargers finished with a 21-2 record with their other loss coming against top-ranked Spring Hill.
