Senior citizens get to go back to prom

Area senior citizens will get a chance to step back in time to their high school years at the Into the Street Week Senior Prom.

The dance  which will include a live band, refreshments, decorations and party favors  will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 4 at the Kansas Union Ballroom.

Sarah Hill, co-coordinator for Into the Streets Week, said the prom was a good opportunity for students and senior citizens to spend time together.

Kansas University’s Center for Community Outreach is sponsoring the dance as part of its Into the Streets Week, an annual event aimed at introducing students to volunteer opportunities in Lawrence.

The center serves more than 5,000 volunteers annually through volunteer referral and placement.
