Seventh-grader Nicholas Burkart made the Honor Roll at West Junior High School by earning a 3.5 to 3.99 grade-point average.

He is the son of Andy and Barb Burkart.

Christine and Brannon McCarty, Ottawa, announce the birth of their daughter, Isabelle Kay-Lena McCarty, born Nov. 11, 2001, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Isabelle has a brother, Kyle, 6.

Grandparents are Michael and Linda Towne, Manhattan; John Richardson, Pauls Valley, Okla.; and Charles and Vicki McCarty, North Platte, Neb.

Great-grandparents are Joe and Ruth Towne, Louisburg.

Christopher Metzler, Lawrence, was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2001 semester at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., by receiving at least a 3.4 grade-point average.

Silvy Perkins, Lawrence, received the Presidential Academic scholarship from John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Ark.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Perkins, Lawrence.

Jason Curran, Baldwin, has received the Director’s Scholarship and the Music Foundation Scholarship from Pittsburg State University. He is the son of Mike and Donna Curran, Baldwin.

Michael Shelton, Lawrence, graduated Dec. 14 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo. The 1998 Free State High School graduate is the son of Robert and Carolyn Shelton, Lawrence.
