Franklin D. Miller

Memorial services for Franklin D. Miller, 56, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Mr. Miller died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the son of James Roy and Minnie Belle (Paxton) Miller. He spent his childhood in Windsor, Mo.

Mr. Miller worked at the Kmart Distribution Center since 1972, and was in the quality control department. He also had owned and operated Mineral Source Rock Shop from 1988 to 1996. He studied geology at Kansas University. He had been the sound manager for the Bad News Band in the 1980s and had been the floor manager at Lawrence Skate Center in the early 1970s. He was in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam War.

He was an officer of the Gem and Mineral Club of Lawrence and a member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14, Lawrence.

He married Sharon Wilson June 14, 1976, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Elisa Loving, Prairie Village; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Kansas University Geology Field Camp, sent in care of the mortuary.
