‘Home and Away’ takes sneak peek at water gardens
This week, “Home and Away” host Cathy Hamilton, right, offers a sneak preview of the Sunflower Water Garden Society’s pond tour with examples of both professionally built and do-it-yourself ponds.
The Sunrise Garden Center tip is on spirea, one of the easiest flowering shrubs to grow in Kansas.
A new show airs at 6:30 p.m. each Monday on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 and repeats at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The show is also broadcast at 9 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
Now’s the time to search for award-winning plants
If you are a gardener who likes to grow award-winning plants before anyone else does, you can start your search for 2003 honorees.
A shasta daisy called Leucanthemum superbum Becky is the 2003 Perennial Plant of the Year.
Roses winning All-America Rose Selections awards for next year are:
Whisper by Jackson & Perkins, a hybrid tea with creamy-white flowers.
Hot Cocoa by Weeks, a floribunda with chocolate-orange flowers.
Cherry Parfait by Conard-Pyle, a grandiflora with red flowers edged in white.
Eureka by Jackson & Perkins, a floribunda with copper-apricot flowers.
