Brenda J. ‘B.J.’ James

Services for Brenda J. “B.J.” James, 51, Platte City, Mo., will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be at a later date in Dover, Tenn.

Mrs. James died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at her home.

She was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Detroit, the daughter of George and Betty (Wyatt) Laxton. She had lived in Lawrence for a short time.

Mrs. James was a waitress at the Hilton Inn, Kansas City, Mo.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, George and Pauline Laxton, Dover, Tenn.; a companion, Lee Moss, of the home; a son, Ronald Walker, Lawrence; a stepson, Steven Moss, of the home; a brother, George Laxton, Melvindale, Mich.; three sisters, Linda Ellis, South Shore, Ky., Sandra Moritz, Portsmouth, Ohio, and Kim Winters, Lucasville, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends.

The family suggests memorials to the B.J. James Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
