Christina Ward, Eudora, received a doctorate in medicine from Washington University in St. Louis. She was initiated into Alpha Omega Alpha and received the American Medical Women’s Assn. Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation and the Park J. White, M.D. Prize. She is a 1994 Lawrence High School graduate and the daughter of Donna Stucky, Eudora, and Robert Ward, Lawrence.

Darcy Tolbert, Lawrence, made the Dean’s List during the 2002 spring semester at Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, by earning at least a 3.25 grade-point average. She is the daughter of Charles and Debra Tolbert. Kevin Williams, Lawrence, made the President’s List at the university by earning at least a 3.75 GPA.

John and Nancy Curran, Kansas City, Mo., announce the birth of a son, John Owen Schubert Curran, born May 9, 2002, at St. Joseph Health Center, Kansas City, Mo. He joins a brother, Will Jacob, 2.

Vandi and Frank Henricks, Lawrence, announce the birth of a son, August Frank Sebastian Henricks, born June 12 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He joins a brother, Samuel David Drew, 6.

James Nolan, DeSoto; John Hill III, Lawrence; and Lee Driver, Pomona; were among 15 Baker University student-athletes who earned NAIA Region V 2001-2002 Academic All-Region Scholar Athlete Awards. All-region scholar-athletes must be juniors or seniors and have at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Ronald DeBoer, Lawrence, has been accepted for admission to William Penn University, Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he will pursue a bachelor of arts degree.

Katherine Tharp, Lawrence, was named to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities dean’s list for spring 2002 semester by earning at least a 3.67 grade-point average.

Anthony Johnson-Powell and Joanne Heppert attended Level 1 of the Future Astronaut Training Program at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson. The intense week-long program incorporates actual astronaut training with briefings on subjects ranging from how the body reacts to space flight to principles of rocketry. The nationally recognized camp strives to motivate and inspire careers in space education.

Anthony is the son of Rex Powell and Valerie Johnson-Powell, Lawrence. Joanne is the daughter of Joe and Kathy Heppert, Lawrence.

Jill Ebmeier, Lawrence, graduated cum laude from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. She received a degree in vocal music education.

Emily Petr and Sarah McCullough, both of Lawrence, were named to the Dean’s Honor Roll at Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Tex., for the spring 2002 semester by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Robin Hart, 16, Lawrence, will attend Interlochen Arts Camp, a summer arts program for youth in Interlochen, Mich.

Robin, the son of Kathleen Harrison, will study flute at the camp. Robin has studied flute the past two years with Keith Wright, a Ph.D. candidate at Kansas University.

Raemona Lynn Webb, Lawrence, recently graduated summa cum laude from Washburn University with a degree in social work.

Valerie Burt, Lawrence, has been named to the Dean’s List for the winter quarter of the 2001-2002 academic year at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., by earning at least a 3.75 grade-point average.

Adam Franz, Lawrence, received a bachelor’s degree in global peace and justice studies May 26, 2002, from Bethel College in North Newton.

Mary Martin, Baldwin, was elected to be a College of Human Ecology ambassador for the 2002-2003 academic year at Kansas State University.

Hayley Morgan, Lawrence, and Katrina Korb, Tonganoxie, were named to the 2002 spring semester Dean’s List at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Jaime Florance, Overbrook, has received a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Missouri Western State College, St. Joseph, Mo.

MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe, has announced students who made honors during the spring 2002 semester.

Students named to the Dean’s List earned a 3.5-3.99 grade-point average. Jacob Montgomery, Lawrence, has been named to kthe Dean’s List for the 2002 spring semester at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C., by receiving at least a 3.0 grade-point average.

Josh Ehret, Eudora; Travis Engelbert, Lawrence; and McKabe O’Neal, Ozawkie; have been named to the 2002 spring semester Dean’s Honor Roll at Bethany College, Lindsborg, by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Robert Park, Lawrence, has been named to the Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., honor roll for the 2002 spring term. He is the son of Choon and Jinyoung Park, Lawrence.

Miriam Hillmer, Lawrence, has been named to 2002 spring semester Dean’s List at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D., by earning a 4.0 grade-point average.

Christy Wheeler, Lawrence, is one of the William Jewell College Achievement Scholar finalists for the entering class of 2002. She is the daughter of Dale and Wendy Wheeler.

Nathan Beard, Joanna Beard and Ben Jensen, all of Lawrence, have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2002 semester at Sterling College, by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. Nathan and Joanna are the children of Phil and Eileen Beard. Ben is the son of Timothy and Cynthia Jensen.

Ralley Smith, a junior at Lawrence High School, has earned a position on the Kansas State High School Rodeo team. Smith will compete at the 54th Annual National High School Finals Rodeo in the saddle bronc competition July 22-28 in Farmington, N.M.

Katie Killough graduated May 26 from the University of San Diego, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She will begin work this fall with KPMG LLP of San Diego as an auditor. Killough is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She is the daughter of Scott and Susan Killough, Lawrence.
