Renegades qualify for USSSA World Series
Ottawa ? The Lawrence Renegades won the USSSA 18-and-under Fathers Day Tournament Sunday with a 10-0 victory over the Indy Blaze and and a 16-7 victory over the Topeka Shockers.
Seth Johnson pitched a no-hitter against Independence with five strikeouts and no walks. Two Renegade fielding errors stood between Johnson and a perfect game. Courtney Hutchison went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the traveling team, and Carl Lisher was 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs.
Nick Walters earned the victory against Topeka. Devon Myers and Cal Heinrich both had two hits, and Lisher had three. Lawrence, which was 4-0 in the tournament, qualified for the 17-under USSSA World Series in Chicago next month.
