Passenger hospitalized in K-10 accident

A Topeka woman was in serious condition at a Topeka hospital after an accident at 5 p.m. Sunday west of Lawrence.

Sadie Bigar, 78, was transported by air to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Bigar was a passenger in a 1999 Ford utility vehicle driven by Richard L. Schroder, 56, Lenexa. Schroder was exiting Kansas Highway 10 onto U.S. Highway 40 when he failed to yield and his vehicle struck a 1996 GMC car driven by Scott Waisner, 34, Lawrence, that was westbound on U.S. 40.

Schroder’s vehicle came to a rest on top of the guard rail.

Three passengers in the GMC were not injured. They were Jeanne Waisner, 36, Joshua Waisner, 3, and Joseph Waisner, 7, all of Lawrence. One passenger in Schroder’s vehicle, Patricia Schroder, 56, Lenexa, was not injured.
