Foundation awarded more than $186,000 to 31 organizations in 2001

The foundation awards grants to nonprofit and community organizations in Douglas County for programs for youth, education and health services. In 2001, the foundation awarded $186,413 to the following 31 organizations: Achievement Place Inc., Baker University, Brookcreek Learning Center, Catholic Community Services, Community Children’s Center, Concerts for Young People, Douglas County Dental Clinic, Douglas County Rape Victims Survivor Service, Joint Project of the Douglas County AIDS Project, Rape Victims Survivor Service and Women’s Transitional Care Services, Ecumenical Fellowship, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Health Care Access, Interfaith Caring Neighbors, The Jubilee Cafe, Kansas Advocates for Better Care, Kansas Audio Reader Network, Langston Hughes Project, Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, Lawrence Children’s Choir, Lawrence Community Theatre, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence Partnership for Children and Youth, Lawrence Schools Foundation, Lecompton Historical Society, Mother to Mother of Douglas County, Peggy Bowman Second Chance Fund, Social Services League, The Shelter, Trinity Respite Care, United Way of Douglas County and The Villages Inc.
