Huyser

Earl and Barbara Huyser, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 23 at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Lawrence. Their children and grandchildren will be hosts.

Earl Huyser and Barbara VanKolken were married June 26, 1952, in Holland, Mich.

The couple request no gifts.

Harrod

Norma and Vic Harrod, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Lake Tahoe in late May.

The couple’s children were host to a surprise family dinner for them June 3 at the Hereford House.

They were married May 30, 1952, at the First Methodist Church in Ottawa.

Vic served in the U.S. Navy for four years. After moving to Lawrence, he managed the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and was a partner in the CPA firm of Schehrer, Harrod and Bennett.

Norma taught school in Ottawa, Eudora and Lawrence. She retired from the Lawrence Public Schools after serving 21 years as a consultant. She is an instructor in English as a Second Language at the Adult Learning Center.

Their children are Mike and Laurie Boyd and Lisa and Lynn Harrod. A son, Blaine Harrod, died in 1956. They have one grandson and three stepgrandchildren.
