Sao Paulo, Brazil ? Pele was released from a hospital Tuesday, one day after having an allergic reaction to medical dyes during an examination.

“It was a routine, prescheduled examination of his heart and lungs and at no time did he have any chest pains, as was earlier reported,” Sao Paulo Heart Hospital spokesman William Parron said.

Pele, 61, said he would go ahead with his planned trip to Japan to watch the World Cup games and “cheer for Brazil.”

Pele, considered the world’s best soccer player, led Brazil to the World Cup championships in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
