Lawrence jewelry stores report a recent charm bracelet craze.

“I have noticed an increase in charm bracelet sales in the past year and a half or so,” said Susie Norton, owner of Sterling Creations, 613 W. Fourth St.

Other jewelry stores cite the same increase, and store personnel suggest different reasons for the rush of charm purchases.

“People are becoming very sentimental and want to remember special occasions,” said Chris Walker, owner of Walker’s Jewelry, 4931 W. Sixth St.

Erin Berg, who has worked at Kizer-Cummings Jewelers, 833 Mass. St., for five years, said the popularity of charm bracelets rose with the popularity of sterling silver.

“A lot of people bought (charm bracelets) for Mother’s Day,” she said. “It was a good gift idea for graduation.”
