Senior Services plans entertainment events
Douglas County Senior Services, 745 Vt., has announced the following scheduled free entertainment:
The Stock Market Game, 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays from June 11-Aug. 7, Lawrence Senior Center studio. Participants use an imaginary $100,000 to manage a portfolio over a 10-week period.
Arm Chair Travel, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. June 20, Lawrence Senior Center studio. Visit Tunisia without leaving Lawrence..
The Vintage Players, 2 p.m. June 27, Lawrence Senior Center multipurpose room. Variety program with song and skits.
Call the Leisure and Learning Department at 842-0543 to register for any of these activities. Walk-ins are welcome.
KU freshman receives Chips Quinn scholarship
A Kansas University journalism student has been named a Chips Quinn scholar by the Freedom Forum in Arlington, Va.
Carlos Ramiro Rodriguez, Wichita freshman, was one of 80 minority students from across the country who will receive a $1,000 scholarship. He also received a paid summer internship at the Jackson (Tenn.) Sun.
