Lakeside: Davis makes it seven-for-seven in NASCAR Shortrack Series
KANSAS CITY, KAN. ? NASCAR Weekly Racing Series regional and national leader Kerry Davis padded his lead with his 7th consecutive win in the Grand National Limited Late Model division at Lakeside Speedway Friday night.
Starting seventh, Kansas City’s Davis worked the bottom of the dirt oval for the first two circuits until opportunity showed itself. On the fifth lap the door was opened and with one clean, sweeping pass he was able to maneuver from third to first on his way to victory lane.
A fourth trip to victory lane would prove elusive for defending champion Clint Bowyer, Emporia, Kan. An early race right-rear flat pitted the current regional leader in NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Presented by Dodge competition.
Bowyer returned quickly and remaining on the lead lap, but charging through the competition proved futile. With 14 of 25 laps complete, a turn four pile-up caught Bowyer, ending his night abruptly. He would finish the night in 14th.
The Factory Stocks had seen two first-time winners and six different feature winners entering into Friday’s racing action. It would take current point leader, Troy Cannon, of Bonner Springs, KS, to become the first repeat winner in the Factory Stocks. With 41 of them in the field, it was quite a feat.
