Corbin

He was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Lawrence, the son of James F. and Mary F. (Lanners) Corbin. He had lived in Lawrence for many years.

Mr. Corbin served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a baler operator at Lawrence Paper Company. He retired in 1980. He later worked as a pipe roller at Reuter Organ Company, Lawrence.

He was a member of Indian Hills Church of God and the Coachmen Club. He was a CB enthusiast and was known as “Paper Boy.” He was recently awarded an honorary diploma from Liberty Memorial/ Lawrence High School through a federal program that allowed him to earn his diploma.

He married Arvella Pearson June 23, 1938, in Lawrence. She died Dec. 11, 1996.

Survivors include twin daughters, Sharon Englebrecht and Karon Thoren, both of Eudora; a sister, Charlotte Francis Dibble, Oregon; two grandsons; and three great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Eudora Nursing Center, sent in care of the mortuary.
