Mary Ellen Ball

She died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. She had lived in Lawrence since 1991.

She was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Howard E. and Ethel G. (Phenicie) Miller. She graduated from Kansas University in 1937.

Mrs. Ball worked for Southwestern Bell in 1937 and later was a customer service representative for Ohio Bell Telephone Co. She retired in 1965.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church and P.E.O.

She married Vaughn C. Ball on Aug. 31, 1940, in St. Louis. He died earlier.

Survivors include a brother, Howard E. Miller Jr., Seattle.

The family suggests memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, which is handling arrangements.
