Benson forced to watch again

Johnny Benson is trying not to be too impatient.

Benson, who broke a rib in a crash May 3 in Richmond, plans to spend today, doing just what he did last weekend in Charlotte watching Jerry Nadeau drive his No. 10 Pontiac and doing whatever he can to help out crew chief James Ince during the MBNA Platinum 400 in Dover.

“I’ll spend a lot of time watching from the transporter and pit box and then trying to bridge the communication gap between Jerry and James when they discuss the car,” Benson said.

Benson plans to get back into the Valvoline car for the race June 9 at Pocono.

“I’m feeling better and better every day,” he said. “I’ve been off the pain medicine for a while, I’m sleeping through the night and the physical therapy is going pretty well.”
