Country singer makes stop in Missouri town

Liberty, Mo. Country singer Michael Martin Murphey will perform at 7 p.m. Monday at Liberty Performing Arts Theater, 1600 S. Withers Road.

The concert will feature such hits as “Playing Favorites,” including his hits “Wildfire,” “What’s Forever For” and “Carolina in the Pines.”

Scholar to portray Amelia Earhart

Topeka “An Evening with Amelia Earhart” will be presented by Ann Birney at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Hangar 602 at Forbes Field. The doors open at 6 p.m.

Birney is an independent scholar and partner in Ride into History, a historic performance touring troupe. Her research centers on women’s history.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
