He was born March 11, 1929, in Tonganoxie, the son of William R. and Alice (Curry) McCaffrey. He was a barber in Tonganoxie for 46 years.

Mr. McCaffrey was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Tonganoxie. He was a founder of the Tonganoxie St. Patrick’s Day Parade and had coached and sponsored girls and boys baseball teams. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Marian O’Leary on Sept. 3, 1955, in Dorchester, Mass. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include four sons, John Michael, Bob, Brian Edward, all of Lawrence, and Jim, Tonganoxie; a daughter, Linda McCaffrey, Tonganoxie; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday.
