The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met at 6:15 p.m. July 17 for a lesson and game at the Douglas County Senior Center. Don Brennaman gave the lesson and directed the game. The game was stratified and used the Mitchell movement. North-South winners in Strata A were Barb Hamilton and Bill Hamilton, followed by Frances Vogel and Dorothy Arth. First place in B went to Don Daugherty and Harry Talley. Albert Ballard and Lynn Hui placed first in C. East-West winners in A, B and C were Sara Jane Zimmerman and Emily Foster. Second place in A, B and C went to Julie Ward and Artie Shaw.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met at 1:15 p.m. July 19 for its weekly game at the Douglas County Senior Center. The game was stratified and used the Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game. North-South winners in A and B were Virginia Eddy and Shirlie Vaughn, followed by Patt Radford and Sally Taylor. First place in C went to Judy Bevan and Linda Heavin. East-West winners in A, B and C were Lois Clark and Betty Collier. Second place in A went to Julia Brooks and Wanda Durbin. Second place in B and C went to Cathy Blumenfeld and Mike Blumenfeld.

The University Bridge Club announces winners of its July 20 game. Hosts were Mona and Leo Langlois and Edna and Karmi Galle:

The blue team winners were Leo Langlois, first; Ed Stellmacher, second; and Warren Lesh, third. The red team winners were Edna Galle, first; Dolly Bittenbender, second; and Freddie Nelson, third.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s July 22 game was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The North-South winners were Clyde Romer and Steve Phelps, followed by Don Brennaman and Bill Hamilton. Yvonne Hedges and Mona Bell placed third, followed by Sally Taylor and Shirlie Vaughn.

The East-West winners were Phyllis Brownlee and Madelyn Jenks, followed by John Hickey and Patt Radford. Steven Goodman and Lynn Hui placed third, followed by Paul Heitzman and Donna Johnson. Winning the C session was Betty Collier and Lois Clark, followed by Julie Ward and Emily Foster.
