Douglas Ray Fairchild

? A private memorial service for Douglas Ray Fairchild, 41, Anchorage, Alaska, will be at a later date. He was cremated.

Mr. Fairchild died Friday, July 19, 2002, at his home. He had suffered a heart attack.

He was born June 2, 1961, in Ottawa, the son of Doug Lawson and Dottie (Brecheisen) Bethell. He grew up in the Baldwin and Wellsville area until he moved to Alaska in 1991.

Mr. Fairchild was a carpenter and had been involved with the construction of Interstate 35 and Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant at Burlington. He joined the Carpenter’s Union in Kansas City, Mo., working on several construction projects in the metro area. He worked construction in Alaska from Brooks Range in the north to Bethel, and south to the Gulf Range. He was also in a country rock band, “Mother’s Worry,” for 12 years, playing throughout Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; his mother and stepfather, Dottie Bethell and Steven Signaigo, Ottawa; his adopted father, Kenneth Fairchild, Vermillion; a paternal grandmother, Mary Louise Lawson, Maryville, Tenn.; and a sister, Sissy Thompson, Ottawa.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas Fairchild Memorial Fund, sent in care of Dengel and Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
