Ballpark owners appeal to players, owners
Nine representatives of publicly owned ballparks used by major league teams urged players and owners Thursday to solve their labor dispute without a work stoppage.
“The public has invested considerable money over the last decade to help fund new ballparks,” the statement said. “As stewards of the public ownership and oversight of many stadiums, we believe the dispute over financial matters is far less important than the damage which will be caused by the failure to resolve differences.”
The statement was issued by stadium owners in which the following teams play: Rangers, Pirates, Devil Rays, White Sox, Diamondbacks, Orioles, Twins, Padres and Mariners.
