Norton wins Kansas Am

? Bryan Norton of Prairie Village has toured the world playing professional golf.

Norton played with Ben Crenshaw in the final round of the British Open 12 years ago, but he left pro golf in 1995 when he started a three-year wait to be reinstated as an amateur player.

Norton’s golf career came full circle Sunday when he won his second Kansas Amateur Match-Play Championship at Tallgrass Country Club, 22 years after his first title in 1980.

Norton outlasted Wichita State’s Jonathan May 1-up by ending an 81â2-hour marathon with a par 4 at the 37th hole.

“I can’t believe I won,” Norton said. “I was given a gift today. Winning the way I did today is as special as it gets.”
