Alcoa announces release of nonstick aluminum foil

Alcoa recently unveiled Reynolds Wrap Release, a nonstick aluminum foil that will make for easier cleanups in the kitchen. The new foil will be available in 12-inch-wide, 35-square-foot rolls, at a suggested retail price of $2.49 a premium to the price of Reynolds’ conventional foil.

Release is designed for foods such as pizza and lasagna that stick to conventional foils.

For competitive reasons, Alcoa isn’t disclosing what the coating is made of, but says it has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The foil is safe at temperatures from minus 40 degrees to 650 degrees Fahrenheit, the company said.

Survey: CEOs blame peers for spate of scandals

Chief executive officers aren’t afraid to say who should bear the blame for the recent spate of accounting scandals: their peers.

In a survey of nearly 800 American CEOs of small- to mid-sized American companies by Tec International, just under three-fourths said they held CEOs directly responsible for the scandals at Enron, Adelphia, WorldCom and others.

Sixty-nine percent of those polled said CEOs should be blamed, not chief financial officers, the Securities and Exchange Commission or accounting firms like Arthur Andersen.

Tec International is an organization of CEOs of small to mid-sized firms.
