The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge game of July 3 was stratified and used the Howell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game. Winners in Strata A and B were Bill Hamilton and Barb Hamilton. Glenna Herd and Frances Vogel placed second in B. Harriet Olson and Judy Bevan finished third in A and second in B. Betty Spalsbury and Julie Ward took first place in C.

The TGIF Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met July 5. The game was stratified and used the Mitchell movement. North-South first-place winners in strata A were Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough. Donna Munson and Mary Fenlon placed second. Virginia Eddy and Shirlie Vaughn took third in A and first in B. East-West awards went to Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee for first in A and B. Mike Blumenfeld and Cathy Blumenfeld finished second in A and B and first in C. Judy Bevan and Linda Heavin placed third in A. Don Brennaman directed the game.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s July 8 game was used to allow members to qualify for the North American Open Pairs competition. Twelve tables competed in a stratified, Mitchell movement game that was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The North-South winners were James Gunn and Harry Shaffer, followed by Terry Tolar and Bill Schutzel. Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough placed third, followed by Barbara Hamilton and Bill Hamilton. Dave Piro and Donna Johnson placed fifth. Martie Hartman and Pat Burgstahler, and Clyde Romer and Steve Phelps qualified.

The East-West winners were Jerry Sloan and Julia Brooks, followed by Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee. Mona Bell and Linda Heavin placed third, followed by Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges. Cathy Blumenfeld and Mike Blumenfeld placed fifth. John Hickey and Patt Radford, and Lois Clark and Klee Zaricky qualified.

University Bridge Club announces the winners of its July 6 game, which was given by Roy and Wilma Cropp and Don and Jean Whitaker.

Pink winners were Carolyn Jordan, Wanda Kring and Dorothy Miller. Blue winners were Dale Kring, Paul Jordon and Warren Tesh.
