Kanwaka 4-H Club’s July meeting was called to order by Scott Bronoski, president. Members sang “The Frog Song.”
Members answered roll call by naming their favorite movie. The club’s farm tour will be at 4 p.m. July 21. Terrie Price gave a report on the club’s blood drive, which collected 22 pints. Elizabeth Hughes gave a talk called “Personalized Flip-flops.” Curtis Wakeman gave a presentation about Fourth of July table decorations. Members played Down by the Banks for recreation. Refreshments were served by the McCandless family. The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. July 22.
The Eudora 4-H Club met July 1. Clara Spring talked about the candle art project she took to the fair. Carrie Lister talked about the sheep and heifer she plans to take to the Douglas County Free Fair. The club’s mini tour will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul United Church of Christ. A potluck dinner and swimming will take place after the tour.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Eudora.
Members were reminded of the following events: Thursday, float set-up; Monday-Friday, horticulture camp; July 20, Eudora CPA parade; July 20, pet and dog shows clean-up; July 21, clean-up; July 23, public fashion revue; July 27, 4-H horse show; July 31, work concession stand; July 27-Aug. 4, Douglas County Free Fair; and Sept. 10, Kansas Award Applications deadline.
The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club met June 10. Presentations were given on the following topics: photography, plant science, crochet, dog and art.
Katie Jo Wohletz, junior president, called the July 8 meeting to order.
The club tour will begin at 2 p.m. July 21. There will be a pool party after the tour at the home of the Dinsdales. Project talks were given on bicycling, woodworking and rocketry. The Achievement Celebration will be July 27 at the Lawrence Holidome.
The Clinton Eagles 4-H Club met June 3 at the home of Kahlyn and Kirstyn Heine. Michelle Colgan, president, called the meeting to order.
Members answered roll call by talking about their summer vacation. Haven Bouton, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and presented communications. Donald Baldwin gave the treasurer’s report. Kirstyn Heine and Sandina Oxford led the club in song.
Lanaea Heine gave the leader’s report. The report included fair sign-up sheets and various camp announcements. Reports were presented on the mini fair/club tour and club banner.
Simon Fangman and Katie Gaston gave project talks on how to care for animals. Simon gave a presentation about his calf, and Katie talked about her pig.
The club will have a combination mini-fair/club tour and cookout on Sunday. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Gaston home and end at the Johnson’s cabin. The club will have a mini-fair for non-animal fair exhibits, including mock judging. After the mini-fair, a picnic will take place. The club will provide hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks. Members are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert. There will be a brief meeting.
The club recognized the following members for graduating: Kaylee Wempe, Lawrence High School; Michelle Colgan and Haven Bouton, South Junior High School; Kahlyn Heine, Luke Howard, Alison Richardson, Katie Gaston and Colton Johnson, sixth grade.
Announcements were made, and the meeting was adjourned with the club motto and pledge. A recreation activity followed the meeting.
