Gooden shines in L.A.

? Drew Gooden has been more than good enough for the Memphis Grizzlies in the Los Angeles Summer Pro League.

Gooden, the Grizzlies’ No. 1 choice in the NBA draft, scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, both team highs, as the Grizzlies fell against Houston, 82-81, on Wednesday night.

The former Kansas University All-American made 10 of 23 shots and seven of 11 free throws. Gooden also led the Grizzlies in turnovers with six while playing 42 minutes.

In three summer league games, Gooden has averaged 18.6 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Grizzlies, whose next game is tonight against the Dallas Mavericks.
