Maryellen Risley

? Memorial services for Maryellen Risley, 48, Olathe, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Olathe. She donated her body to medical research.

Ms. Risley died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital from breast cancer.

She was born Aug. 29, 1953, in Chicago, the daughter of James K. and Ellen Murphy. She graduated from Immaculata High School, Leavenworth, in 1971.

She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Benedictine College in 1975, and her master’s degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, in 1980.

Ms. Risley was a teacher at St. Paul’s Elementary School, Olathe.

She married Michael Risley in 1979, in Leavenworth.

They divorced in 1994.

Survivors include three daughters, Katie Ellen Risley, Kristin Risley and Jamie Risley, all of Lawrence; her father and stepmother, James K. and Boots (Bray) Murphy, Lawrence; four brothers, James Murphy, Topeka, Tim Murphy, Shawnee, Ken Murphy, Alexandria, Va., and Sean Murphy, Leavenworth; two sisters, Sheila Murphy, Wuerzburg, Germany, and Katie Holmes, Leavenworth; two stepbrothers, Britt Bray, Lawrence, and Ed Bray, Merriam; and five stepsisters, Crista Hansen and Cara Rantner, both of Lawrence, Mary Cordill, Prairie Village, Emily Perry, Reno, Nev., and Tracey McGinnis, West Point, N.Y.

The family suggests memorials to the Risley Children’s College Fund, Capital Federal Savings, Lawrence.
