Donald Gene Gragg

Services for Donald Gene Gragg, 69, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Gragg died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his home in rural Lawrence.

He was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Quenemo, the son of Owen and Mildred (Cowdin) Gragg. He moved to Lyndon in 1945. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1950.

Mr. Gragg served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. After leaving the service, he worked at Haskell Indian College as a boiler tech. He also worked for Kansas Power and Light for 20 years and owned a dairy farm for many years in the Centropolis area. In 1985, he moved to Lawrence, where he worked for the city street department. He retired in 1994.

He married Reba Purdue. She died in 1983. He then married Judy Armstrong Lemon on June 15, 1987. She survives of the home.

Survivors include three sons, Jim, Wichita, John, Bakersfield, Calif., and Mark, Kellogg, Ind.; three stepdaughters, Tina Lemon, Pam Henderson and Bobbie Shreve, all of Lawrence; three stepsons, Rick Purdue, Lawrence, and Terry Purdue and Gary Purdue, both of Greeley, Colo.; one sister, Alice Karakus, of Minnesota; and 20 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
