Former KU center to play for Knicks this summer

Former Kansas University center Eric Chenowith is getting a second chance with the New York Knicks.

The 7-foot-1 Chenowith, who was a second-round pick of the Knicks in the 2001 NBA draft but not invited to their preseason camp, has accepted an invitation to play for the Knicks’ summer league team.

Chenowith made third-team all-National Basketball Developmental League last year. After the first NBDL season, the Orange, Calif., native played in France.

The Knicks also are considering signing centers Jerome James and Michael Doleac.

The Knicks’ summer league team begins play in Shaw’s Pro Summer League in Boston on July 16.
