It’s a girl for Chris Rock and wife

New York Chris Rock has something to smile about the actor-comedian is the proud father of a baby girl.

Rock’s wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, gave birth in New York on Friday, Rock’s publicist said Monday. The couple named the girl Lola Simone not Holiday, the name that Rock had touted before the baby’s birth.

It is the first child for both Rock, 36, and his wife, 32.

Britain gives deadline for Princess Di’s memorial

London The British government, concerned about delay in construction of a memorial to Princess Diana, has told the project’s managers that plans must be completed by the end of August so building can begin.

A committee was set up 17 months ago to oversee the project, and a competition was held to choose a design for a memorial fountain to be built in London’s Hyde Park, close to Kensington Palace where Diana lived.

Delay in deciding on the design prompted a government deadline.

A spokesman for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport said Monday that Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell has told Royal Parks Agency officials to ensure a decision is made by the fifth anniversary of Diana’s death, Aug. 31. The princess, divorced from Prince Charles, was killed in Paris in a high-speed car crash in 1997.

No charges for Harrelson

London Actor Woody Harrelson, accused of damaging a London taxi in a fit of rage, will not face criminal charges, police said.

The driver of the cab has withdrawn his allegation, Scotland Yard said Monday.

Harrelson, star of “Natural Born Killers,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt” and the upcoming “Anger Management,” was arrested June 6 on suspicion of criminal damage after an incident outside a London nightclub.

Taxi driver Les Dartnell said Harrelson kicked his cab, smashing a door lock and ashtray before running off.

Move on, girls

Radnor, Pa. Attention J. Lo and Britney: Some fans think it’s time for some new relationships.

According to a TV Guide poll, a majority of fans don’t want Jennifer Lopez to reunite with lost love Sean “P. Diddy” Combs or see Britney Spears get back together with Justin Timberlake.

The results appear in the July 6 issue, which hit newsstands Monday.

Lopez, 31, recently separated from her husband, dancer Cris Judd. While she is now single again, 73 percent of fans don’t want her to go back to former boyfriend Combs.

Combs and Lopez had a high-profile romance for two years before breaking up in February 2001. She married Judd, one of her background dancers, seven months later.

And 59 percent of those polled said they didn’t want to see Spears, 20, returning to ‘N Sync star Timberlake.
