Tuckel services

Services for Ernest Arthur Tuckel, 87, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Tuckel died Friday, June 28, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 28, 1914, in Kanwaka Township, the son of Felix and Clara (Unger) Tuckel. He grew up in the Pleasant Grove community, where he attended grade school.

Mr. Tuckel was a dairy and crop farmer all of his life. He retired from farming in 1980.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lawrence, and was on the Wakarusa Township Board.

He married Opal Dietz on Dec. 7, 1941, at her parents’ home near Lone Star. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Larry, Terry and David, all of Lawrence; a daughter, Virginia Hare, Prairie Village; a brother, Russell, Lawrence; two sisters, Ethel Jellison and Leona Flory, both of Lawrence; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until service time Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, sent in care of the funeral home.
