New Journal-World sections aim to fit your life

January 31, 2002

Welcome to a new brand of lifestyle and entertainment content.

The Lifestyle section you're holding is one of two new sections we've created to bring you information formerly found in The Mag, our weekly entertainment section. The Mag has been discontinued. The changes are part of a reorganization intended to make your Journal-World handier and easier to use.

Each week in Lifestyle, you'll find information about health, recreation and family. Inside, we'll bring you a look at the Best Bets for entertainment in the week ahead, along with a listing of regional nightlife, theater, music, and museum and gallery exhibits.

On Friday, look for Scene. This new section will bring you more stories on local entertainment, movie reviews and music, and more event listings. It also will include News of the Weird and a calendar of recreation events for the week ahead.

The changes will make it easier for you to find some of your favorite features. Horoscopes, Ann Landers, puzzles, comics and TV listings now will be in the D section Monday through Saturday.

18 & Under, the Journal-World's teen news page, will move to Tuesday. And religion news will move to Saturday in a new Faith section.

Some items that had been in Saturday's feature section will be moving. Weekender, the weekly listing of things to do Saturday and Sunday, and the Pets page will move to Saturday's Lawrence & State section. Volunteers, which brings you weekly information on ways to help others in the community, will move to Monday's Lawrence & State section.

Jan Biles, features/arts editor, is responsible for feature sections content. Jon Niccum, who was editor of The Mag, is entertainment editor and continues to be a member of Biles' staff. Other staff members include Jim Baker, writer; Susie Fagan, assistant features editor; and Amy Trollinger, special sections editor.

We hope you like the changes. If you have comments or concerns, please contact Biles at 832-7146 or
