Heitzman Record: Paul Heitzman of Eudora set an ages 70-74 Oklahoma record in the Run Short/Run Long 20K last Saturday in Tulsa. Heitzman’s time for the 12.4-mile race was 1:31:56.

Norwood Honors: Lafayette Norwood of Lawrence will be inducted into the Cowley County CC athletics hall of fame on Feb. 9. Norwood, a former Kansas University assistant basketball coach, was a juco All-American while playing for the Arkansas City two-year school in 1954.

Hook Shot Champs: Jayhawk Club fourth grade boys won last weekend’s Hook Shot basketball tournament at Sport 2 Sport. Team members are Scott Brenn, Drake DeBiasse, Dylan Flitcraft, Adam Hasty, Clark Gray, Michael McCabe, Steven Melton, Christian Nelson, Cale Nieder and Coulter Vestal. Coaches are Scott Flitcraft and Dale Vestal.

Force U-13 Romps: Kaw Valley Force U-13 girls premier soccer blanked a Shawnee team, 7-0, last weekend to boost their record to 3-0. Abby Vestal scored three goals while Raya Bowden, Banaka Okwuone, Kara Wahnee and Lucca Wang added one apiece.

Leland Sparkles: Arden Leland paced Lawrence Gymnastics Academy Level Five competitors at a meet last weekend with a second place in the all-around. Other LGA all-around placings were Kelcy Bowers 4th, Alexis Gonzales 5th, Ellen Hernly 6th, Rachael Schaffer and Jennifer Hughes 9th and Abby Thompson 12th.
