Nanette Murphy Finucane

Leawood Memorial Mass for Nanette Murphy Finucane, 78, Leawood, will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Church of the Nativity, Leawood. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Finucane died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Heath Center, Kansas City, Mo.

She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of John Wall and Cecelia (McCaffrey) Murphy. She attended Bryant and Visitation grade schools and St. Teresa’s High School, Kansas City, Mo. She then attended St. Teresa’s College, Kansas City, Mo., where she was a member of its first accredited four-year graduating class in 1944.

From 1944 to 1948, she was a hostess for Trans World Airlines, living in Wilmington, Del., New York City and Tel Aviv, Israel.

After she married, she moved to Kansas City, Mo. In 1962, she moved to Topeka. She taught religious education classes for the C.C.D. program at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Topeka. In 1978, she and her husband started Finucane Enterprises Inc., a medical supply distribution company. In 1979, they moved to Leawood, where she helped with the business until 1991. During the 1990s, she served as president of TWA Clipped Wings.

She married J. Bernard Finucane on Aug. 14, 1948. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include four sons, Dennis, Leawood, Pat, Bucyrus, John, Kansas City, Mo., and Bill, Eudora; a daughter, M. Eileen Loehr, Lenexa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to service time Friday at the church.
