She was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Lawrence, the daughter of Herbert E. and Beatrice E. (Howard) Lewis. She attended Lawrence High School.

She worked as a lab technician at Kansas Power and Light Company for more than 25 years. She retired in 1996.

Survivors include three daughters, Lynnette Hamm, Long Beach, Calif., Jacqueline Anderson, Topeka, and Stephanie Mack, Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Carlton Hamm Jr., Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call after noon today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
