? She was born July 17, 1909, in McLouth, the daughter of William Gilman and Leah Nora Rice McHenry. She graduated from McLouth High School and attended Baker University. She was a teacher.

She lived in North Kansas City, Mo., and spent her retirement in Oskaloosa and Ozawkie. She was instrumental in developing the craft guild in the Old Town Museum in Oskaloosa.

She served as the youth director at Unity Church in Kansas City, Mo., and at the Unity National Headquarters in Lee’s Summit, Mo. She established a preschool program and was a licensed teacher for the Unity Church.

She married James “Ralph” Alderson. He died in September 1965. She later married Victor Edmonds. He died in December 2001.

Survivors include a son, Lyle Anderson, Blue Springs, Mo., a stepson, Gary Edmonds, Gunnison, Colo., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A stepdaughter, Beverly Rhodes, died in June 2001.
