More than 400 swimmers representing 60 teams will be in Lawrence from Thursday through Sunday for an AAU sectional meet.

Five regions will be represented  Missouri Valley, Arkansas, Ozark, Midwestern and Oklahoma  during the national qualifier at the Lawrence Aquatic Center adjacent to Free State High.

Co-hosts are the Lawrence Aquahawks and the city parks and recreation department. Some teams will bring as many as 60 swimmers. The host Aquahawks will have only 18.

The top 24 swimmers in the morning events will qualify for the finals at night. Competition will open with the 1,000-yard freestyle at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Prelims will begin at 9 a.m. Friday through Sunday with the finals set for 5:30 p.m.
