The city commission asked for a special report to the public by the Citizens Advisory Council regarding the partisan, geographical mayor-council form of government in contrast to the existing nonpartisan, non-geographical commission-manager system.

IN 1902

On Feb. 24, 1902, the Lawrence Journal noted a drop in the price of eggs and wondered about any connection between that drop and recent negative statement by an expert. The Journal speculated, “And yet, the sudden drop of 7 cents a dozen eggs may not have been due entirely to the noted scientist’s declaration to the effect that they have little value as a food product. The sudden activity of the hens when the sun came out may have had something to do with the drop in prices.”
