Ross

Robert and Mary Anna Ross, DeSoto, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. today at the DeSoto Community Center.

Robert Ross and Mary Anna Stuber were married Feb. 23, 1952, at Sacred Heart Church in Bonner Springs.

Bob was an electrician at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, DeSoto. He retired in 1991 after 40 years of service.

Mary Anna worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant during the Korean conflict. She returned in 1965 as a lab technician and worked there until 1971. She then became a lead inspector in quality control at Continental Can in Lenexa. She retired in 1992 after 20 years of service.

The Rosses children will serve as hosts for the reception: Mike Ross, Suzie Sherman and Stacy Kerr, DeSoto; Mark Ross and Matt Ross, Linwood; and Sally Foss and Sheryl Nunley, Topeka. The couple also have 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Abrahamson

Dan and Carol Abrahamson will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.

Carol Isley and Daniel Abrahamson were married July 22, 1961, in Bloomington, Ill.

Dan has worked for Reuter Organ Company for 40 years. Carol has been employed with the Lawrence School District for 29 years.

The couple’s children will serve as reception hosts. They are Emily and Rick Cates, and Rik and Shannon Abrahamson, Lawrence; Heather and Kevin Williams, Topeka; and Jennifer and Frank Towle, Osage City. The couple also has seven grandchildren.
